An Italian café and épicerie in Paris. Bontà was created by Sylvain Greiner and Mickael Jaffard, drawing on their interest in Italian food and hospitality. Greiner's connection to southern Italy extends beyond this project. With Anne Benichou, he previously developed Casa a Corte, a five-room guesthouse in a restored historic residence in Nardò, Puglia. Both come from backgrounds in luxury hotels, which makes the move into a neighborhood grocery and restaurant quite interesting.
The interior, designed by IMAGINA, borrows from the traditional Italian alimentari and the American deli. Timber shelves filled with groceries are paired with steel counters, geometric floor tiles and brightly colored furniture. Tables occupy the same space as the merchandise, rather than being separated into a dining area, there’s a deliberate arrangement that allows the room to to have dual function.
The home objects steal the show. You can tell Bontà is invested in the whole story from initial ingredients to the hosted meal. The objects aren’t essential to selling pasta or preparing lunch, but they do broaden the idea of the concept shop.
