Skin Over Everything
A ritual for when you’d rather invest in your skin than your makeup bag
There are two types of people in this world: the full-beat baddies and the skincare maximalists. You already know which camp I’m in.
I’ve never mastered contour or baking. I barely remember to blend my concealer all the way. But what I do know is how to get my skin to glow enough that no one cares what’s on top of it.
I blame (or thank) my mom, the original natural baddie, and her seven equally gorgeous sisters. None of them wore much makeup. It was always about skin, hair, and confidence. The kind that doesn’t come in a bottle but can be helped along by one.
So here’s my formula for skin that feels alive, not lacquered.
The Routine
A moisturizer that fits your skin type. I rotate between Versed Skin Soak and Typology 9-Ingredient Moisturizer when I want simple and soothing.
Retinol at night — nothing wild, just consistency. I get my prescription filled by With Agency
Actives that even tone. Think niacinamide, vitamin C, or azelaic acid. They do the heavy lifting over time.
Deep exfoliation once a week. I alternate The Ordinary and UBeauty. Not every day. Your barrier deserves rest days, too.
SPF. Every. Single. Day. My go-to: Versed SPF 50.
